UPDATE: Police investigating unidentified man and woman leaping in front of LIRR train Hollis Station as double suicide

This is the branch of the LIRR I ride everyday and I’m shocked!

Two people died last night when they leaped in front of an LIRR train in Queens, police sources said according to The New York Post.

The victims were struck by the Manhattan-bound train at the Hollis station at 193rd Street and 99th Avenue at around 10:20 p.m., according to police.
Witnesses said that they saw the pair jump from the platform as the train was approaching the station.

Passengers on the train had to wait nearly two hours as the victims’ bodies were extracted from underneath the cars.

Authorities did not say last night whether the incident was a suicide

UPDATE

A man and woman were struck and killed by a Long Island Rail Road train in Queens Monday night in what authorities are investigating as an apparent double suicide, according to a law enforcement official reports NBC News New York.

A LIRR spokesman says the two people were trespassing on the elevated tracks at 183rd Street and Liberty Avenue in Hollis when they were struck by a westbound train just after 10 p.m.

A law enforcement official tells NBC 4 New York they jumped in front of the train. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Westbound trains have been delayed and the train involved in the incident was taken out of service. The railroad says affected riders may be transported by bus.
